Mara as Show & Tell

This morning Drew was the star of his class as he got to bring a living, breathing subject for show & tell. Mara was a trooper through it all & when she wasn't sleeping she was smiling. It was far more exhausting for me just trying to follow along in french. Sadly, I have no idea what was said half the time.

Drew beamed with pride while answering all the kid's questions:

"How small are her diapers?"

"Is she zero years old?"

"How do you take care of her?"

"How do you feed her?"
(To that Drew answered, "This one time she was eating and she chopped down on my mum REALLY HARD!" That answer produced loads of confused faces on the kids, sympathetic glances from the teachers and then quick distractions)

One boy offered me a dog-chewed rubber ball, "This is from me for your baby."

And my favourite:
"Is she looking at all of us and thinking that we're aliens?"

Yep, aliens. I've seen enough.

So I'll just grab a quick nap...

Where did 2 months go?

By the size of her rolls, I think Mara may have ate the months of September & October. She's definitely following in her big sister's footsteps. Gotta love her!

8 weeks & drooling all over our couch

She smiles non-stop, loves to talk & is generally the most relaxed baby ever. She really enjoys watching DK perform & next to eating, her favourite time is her nightly bath with momma. She has had two nights of 7.5 hours of blissful (for me) sleep so far, but usually just gets up once which is acceptable I guess. During her very first night in this world she slept in stints of 4.5 hours & thankfully she's never gone less than that. Because this baby thing is a breeze - maybe we'll have a couple more...? Or not.

Meanwhile, it seems as though our 'big' kids have discovered the camera on my computer. They love to sneak into my office and leave surprise images for me. I applaud them for their imagination at least! Here are some of the latest.

Where did he learn this I wonder?

I don't think I'll ever need to take another picture of her -
this photo captures her personality better than I ever could

Halloween & Thumpin's

Great Grandma Sue was with us this week and continued on in the same fashion as Nana. She cleaned, she baked & she made my life very easy while Grant was at work. She got to witness Kai's dance class & ventured to the mall with all the hooligans in tow. But, most importantly she cuddled the kids (no thumpin's after all!), shared her stories and spent time with us. It was a fantastic visit and we're so grateful she came.

The girls

Drew decided he wanted no part of smiling - this was the best one we could get.

When Halloween arrived, Super Girl & Robin hauled in the loot - and so much more efficiently than last year! While Grandma Sue held down the fort with Mara, Grant & I took our superheros out with the Hansens & the Bowlers for a race to fill their massive bags. Kai even managed to convince Kaya to carry her bag once it started to get heavy. Smart girl that Kai.

Trace, Tor & Liv spent the week before Halloween in Kelowna so Trace & I tried our hand at getting some good photos of the girls together. While Liv was bright-eyed through it all, Mara just slept.

Liv is four days older than Mara, so no doubt more mature, but I think Mara is winning the weight class.
