Babies everywhere!

Bobbi @ 10 weeks, Me @ 20 weeks & Donna @ 30 weeks (twins!)

This last Saturday was Donna's surprise baby shower at Wendy's house in Vernon. It was wonderful to finally see her after basically stalking her to send pictures of her blossoming belly with NO success. Her & Dave are expecting twin girls in June! She looks absolutely amazing and is either not at all phased by what is about to happen, or she's kept herself heavily sedated because she is so calm & prepared that it's scary.

Bobbi just recently announced that they are also expecting #3 in November! (They so copied us.) When her & Marc came to our house for a bbq on Saturday night the 4 of us just stood upstairs frozen in fear while listening to the chaos going down in our basement. We realized that soon there will be SIX kids down there whenever we get together! Whoa. What have we gotten ourselves into?!?!

Our ultrasound 2 weeks ago was an interesting experience & a test of my nerves, but all is great now. We lucked out and got the oldest, crankiest tech on the planet who refused to speak to me or offer any reassurance. I left the appointment sure that there was something wrong & I knew I had to wait a week before I got the results from my doctor. Thank goodness for my "in" with Trace who was able to ease some of my fears over the phone. When I finally had my appointment I found that everything is just fine with both baby & me! Kai is positive she saw on screen that it is a girl but when Grant & I compared the profile shots we were given to the kid's - we're positive it is a boy because it shares the massive Belbin lip of Drew's ultrasound photo. Either way, it's exciting not to know for sure this time.

Drew is continuing his goal scoring streak & scored 2 more goals last Wednesday as his team beat the Red Rockets 3-1.

Kai is more than ready for her Happy Tappin' with Elmo debut next week. Every single morning she asks if it is "stage day" and she is so excited that she gets to have her hair "squiggly" (curly) for the show. I, on the other hand am I little bit concerned how I'll manage to get her hair curly.

Goals & X-Rays

Yesterday was a big day for both Drew & Kai. Kai had an X-ray on her right foot thanks to a fall off the playground equipment on Sunday. She hadn't put any weight on it in four days, crawling around the house muttering, "Don't worry 'bout me, I'll be just fine." She took it all like a champ and absolutely charmed all of the techs in the office with her 'bravery'. When she emerged from the x-ray room (I wasn't allowed to go in with her in my 'condition') she was holding the tech's hand, trying to walk. I guess Kai had said to her, "I think I should give walking a try again."

Thankfully her foot looks good and nothing is broken. She is starting to step on a little more today and I am very thankful that my 4 days of carrying her around are over!

Drew had a very successful night last night. Not only did his friend Chloe confirm to me that they are indeed "real" boyfriend & girlfriend while she sat with me on the sidelines of Drew's soccer game, Drew scored the first two goals of the season to bring his team to a 2-0 win! What a proud moment for us! Drew beamed with pride and immediately cashed in on dad's promise of a loonie per goal.

Tomorrow is my 18 week ultrasound and while we have decided not to find out the sex of Baby #3, it will still be very exciting to finally see the little person who is making me eat so much.

Gut & More Gut

17 weeks & getting larger every second - mostly thanks to all of the kid's easter chocolate, but whatever. I missed taking a photo last week so there is 2 weeks between the last 2 guts. Notice the sun glare off of my tummy now.

I asked Grant the all important question this morning... if I was walking down the street and he happened to glance at me (as a stranger) would he automatically think I was pregnant or would he have to think about it for a second? You all know my usual concise way of asking simple questions, "Okay, so it's 15 degrees, sunny, I'm wearing a green shirt, you're walking 13 feet away from me and I've just eaten a grilled cheese sandwich...do I look fat or pregnant? Never one to sugar-coat anything, Grant didn't hesitate to say, "Um, you've looked pregnant - yes, even from a stranger's perspective, since I've been home - so why are you asking now?" Awesome.

I've been asked to dance in the studio's year-end show on May 8 & 9th. One of the dancers is a doctor and she is the one pushing me to do it. She seems to think a corset-type thing for 10 minutes is perfectly safe & a strategically placed sash should cover up anything else. I have my first, and maybe last, rehearsal this Saturday. If I can get through it I may agree... we'll see.

Easter...or was it Christmas?!

Drew, Kai & cousin William enjoyed the endless hunt for chocolate eggs this weekend. Starting at their bedside tables ("How could the Easter Bunny hop so quietly?"), the hunt went throughout the house and spilled out into the yard. Their baskets were overflowing and that was before they were also spoiled by Nana, who came from Calgary for the occasion, and Grandpa Derek & Grandma Nancy.

Daddy is home!

Grant arrived home in time to surprise the kids by picking them up at "Kai's school" on Thursday. Drew immediately commented that he thought the surprise he was waiting for was going to be something chocolate (whose child is he?) but he was ecstatic nonetheless and life immediately returned to normal...partly because Grant was smart enough to bring them chocolate eggs too.

Saturday was Drew's first soccer practice and the picking of the teams. Games are on Wednesday evenings so Grant misses out on being a coach - so chubbo mum was more than happy to fill in. I guess if I can't play this summer I mine-as-well coach 5 year-olds. We are the Orange team of 9 kids and our first game is this week. Drew is very serious about the whole thing and really looking forward to getting started.

Kai was very happy to have Dad there to watch her dance class on Saturday morning too. Kai's class is really something you have to see to believe and Grant finally got what I'd been talking about for months.
