The Gangsta & the Cowgirl

The last two weeks have been very full with dance rehearsals & performances for DK. Kai, the veteran, was impressed with Drew's "first try" on the stage, and we were pleasantly surprised by how much Drew enjoyed it. We weren't sure how our Mr. Serious would feel about stepping out of his comfort zone - but he was confident and enthusiastic about the entire process. The dance was an interesting mish-mash of skill levels and ages. The boys attempted to stay in sync while trying to pull off a storyline involving gangsters & business men, or something. A good portion of the dance was their teacher basically translating what break dancing should look like. It was actually very inspiring for Drew who had been frustrated all year with the lack of focus in his group. (where did he come from?!) In the third of his three shows he even pulled out (of nowhere!) a one-arm round-off...and landed it! The crowd cheered for the short blond kid & my heart exploded!

The famous roundoff
(famous in our eyes anyway)

The boy on the far right was the kid Drew told us

was so nervous, "he puked behind the stage!"

Kai & her group were Jessie from Toy Story & danced & sang (oh yes!) to "You've Got a Friend in Me". It was hilarious and sweet & we were very proud to hear her voice above all belting out the chorus - even from the balcony. Kai has made some really wonderful new friends in her class this year. I know it is going to be tough for her to say goodbye.

Coming back on for the finale.
Another chance to be in the spotlight!
